Post-Sonics Watch
Feeling lost without your Seattle SuperSonics? Seattle-area NBA fans face their first season without an NBA team in 41 years. Primarily, our coverage here will focus on the City of Seattle’s attempt to bring the NBA back to Seattle. But we also will provide updates on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and area players plying their trade for other teams in the NBA.

Eric Williams covered the Sonics' last season in Seattle. A Tacoma native, Eric graduated from Mount Tahoma High and the University of Puget Sound.

Keeping an eye on the NBA and Seattle's efforts to get back into the game
Monday, April 14th, 2008

It’s been awhile, but I thought I would offer some links to stories that pertain to Seattle and what is happening here.

If it was the last game in Seattle, you couldn’t have scripted a better ending.

Listen to conversations with Nick Collison and Jeff Green after Seattle’s 99-95 win over Dallas Sunday night.

Listen to other Sonic players talk about Sunday’s game at KJR’s Sonics page here.

Watch highlights from the game here.

Here’s an interesting story from the New Orleans Times-Picayune that talks about the competition between the Hornets and Saints for government funds. The story asks if New Orleans can support both teams financially.

The New York Daily News reports that former Seattle Sonics general manager Rick Sund is one of two final candidates for the New York Knicks general manager position. The other is former Philadelphia Sixers president Billy King.

An editorial in the Memphis Commercial Appeal advocates that the NBA owners defer on the vote to relocate Seattle to Oklahoma City.

Yahoo Sport’s Adrian Wojnarowski talks about the rookie of the year candidates here.

And he also discusses the Sonics tenuous situation in Seattle here.

That was the oddest broadcast I've ever seen. Obviously the broadcast team are employees of Clayton Bennet and must act accordingly but that was hilarious. There's a three ton elephant in the room and their talking about the weather. There wasn't one mention from the broadcast team of the (possible)impending move, the significance of the night, not even a hint of nostalgia. The lone act of dissent was the closeup of GP at courtside. It reminds me of Frank Drevin shouting "nothing to see here people, please move along" as the port blows up behind him.
Obviously the vast majority of those people are fired if the sonics move, most of them are from the area and must have an attachment to the Sonics. I'd be very interested to hear what was said in the pre-production meeting to force people to act in such an un-natural way.

absolutely agree cougar, not to mention that the game wasn't even called by calabro. A very unnatural broadcast. It wasn't helped by Steve Snapper Jone's thinly veiled disgust with Brian Davis all night either. I'm not a huge Brian Davis fan, in fact I can't really stand him as a play by play guy but everything he would say Snap with argue with. Even as davis was trying to say that it was good to work together this year, snapper wouldn't even respond. Their squabbling was distracting at the least and the fact that they didn't even discuss the situation in the arena bothered me.
On the Mav's broadcast on the other hand, they panned the stadium for 2 minutes during the "save our sonics" chant and the announcers discussed how they couldn't believe someone would try to take the team. It was distressing to say the least.
