Post-Sonics Watch
Feeling lost without your Seattle SuperSonics? Seattle-area NBA fans face their first season without an NBA team in 41 years. Primarily, our coverage here will focus on the City of Seattle’s attempt to bring the NBA back to Seattle. But we also will provide updates on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and area players plying their trade for other teams in the NBA.

Eric Williams covered the Sonics' last season in Seattle. A Tacoma native, Eric graduated from Mount Tahoma High and the University of Puget Sound.

Keeping an eye on the NBA and Seattle's efforts to get back into the game
Friday, April 18th, 2008

NBA TV and nba.com will carry the press conference live. Last I've been told by NBA folks is the press conference will take place between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. Eastern Time, which means about 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. back in the Seattle area.

NBA Commissioner David Stern and Sonics chairman Clay Bennett will speak during the press conference.

I talked to Mark Rupp, a representative of Gov. Chris Gregiore's office who works in Washington D.C. and is here to represent the governor. Rupp said he has not had a chance to speak with anyone from the NBA, but that Gregoire still believes it is important to keep a team in Seattle.

I also spoke with Brian Robinson of Save Our Sonics, who is not being allowed in the hotel because he doesn't have media credentials. Robinson said he thought it was important for a representative of Sonics fans to be here so the NBA understands its decision affects fans in Seattle.

Why doesn't the TNT give Brian some media credentials?

We all know what will happen... Stern and Bennett will announce an overwhelming approval for the theft of the Sonics from Seattle. They'll be touching each other's thighs under the table and make eyes at each other when they think the cameras aren't on them.

The real action will be Shultz's lawsuit to get the team back. Go Howard!!

why is the NBA & it's owners so willing to let this many teams move in such short amount of time? I can the understand Vancouver & Charlotte moves, both fairly new teams that have never been all that good and we all know that wins equals seats being filled. But 41 years, come on. The owners need to listen to Mr. Cuban and vote this move down. Let them move some other team or move a team that has moved before. This is why the NBA is starting to suck! Go Howard, take back the team, good luck!!

NBA.com has no mention of any press conferences scheduled for today. The "In The News" section on the web site has no story regarding the Sonics either other than Sene's knee injury.
