Feeling lost without your Seattle SuperSonics? Seattle-area NBA fans face their first season without an NBA team in 41 years. Primarily, our coverage here will focus on the City of Seattle’s attempt to bring the NBA back to Seattle. But we also will provide updates on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and area players plying their trade for other teams in the NBA.
Eric Williams covered the Sonics' last season in Seattle. A Tacoma native, Eric graduated from Mount Tahoma High and the University of Puget Sound.

In what looks like another minor victory for the city of Seattle, a U.S. District Court judge in New York ruled that attorneys representing the city can dispose NBA Commissioner David Stern, according to a report in The Oklahoman.
Federal court Judge Loretta Preska also ruled that the league must hand over internal documents about the Sonics relocation to Oklahoma City to the city. Read more here and I'll have an update later.

It's interesting how 2 different legitimate media sources can spin the same story 180 degrees differently. The OKC paper certainly perceived the proceedings differently then the AP did.
The AP's headline is "Stern not ordered to testify". Their story spins that almost all of the judges ruling went against Seattle!

The opposite headlines yesterday are not unusual. A headline presenting the conditional nature of the deposition decision would have been neutral and best at conveying fact though and some other later articles got around to doing so.
Eric, the headline for your Tuesday story needs adjustment. I know often headlines are somebody else's call. Stern did not own the Sonics. He is trying to "own" Seattle and "sell-out"Sonic fans though.

To add: Given that the first definition of "depose" in most dictionaries is "a. To remove from office or power. b. To dethrone," wouldn't it be prudent -- for the sake of clarity in communication -- to choose a word other than "depose" for use in headlines? I understand the word's meaning with regard to the law ("a. To state or affirm in a deposition or by affidavit. b. To take a deposition from: Investigators will depose the witness behind closed doors."), but it would make sense, given the word's dual meaning, to choose a different one. Although, I might add, "dispose" certainly is not the one I'd pick.
He may be a lot of things, but Eric Williams is far from shoddy when it comes to journalism.. He might have had an off day, but the Sonics coverage on this blog and in the Tribune has been much better since he took over..
Anyway, if they can spin it either way, I can take it either way.. and I'm gonna take the positive, because what the F do I have to lose? They're already stealing my team, and basically giving a big F off to the entire city - so when a little news that makes me feel good comes around, I'm definitely not going to disown it..
