Post-Sonics Watch
Feeling lost without your Seattle SuperSonics? Seattle-area NBA fans face their first season without an NBA team in 41 years. Primarily, our coverage here will focus on the City of Seattle’s attempt to bring the NBA back to Seattle. But we also will provide updates on the Portland Trail Blazers, the Oklahoma City Thunder and area players plying their trade for other teams in the NBA.

Eric Williams covered the Sonics' last season in Seattle. A Tacoma native, Eric graduated from Mount Tahoma High and the University of Puget Sound.

Keeping an eye on the NBA and Seattle's efforts to get back into the game
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008
Posted by Eric Williams @ 03:16:50 pm

According to a source with knowledge of the situation a settlement has been reached between the City of Seattle and the Seattle SuperSonics ownership group, just hours before an expected announcement by U.S. District Court Judge Marsha Pechman. Details of the settlement were not immediately available.

According to the source, the two sides have been in talks for three weeks, and discussions heated up within the last few days. The City of Seattle is expected to make an announcement at 5 p.m. at City Hall. I'll have an update when more information becomes available.

KING-5 is reporting that Pechman will give her ruling at 4 p.m. even if the sides work out a settlement.

Perchman ruled that she wasn't ruling and that they have settled the case. We're in limbo until 5PM and have to watch King5 to find out what's up. YYYYYUUUUCCCCKKKKK!!!! I hate Jean Enerson!

Goodbye Sonics. The NBA is dead to me. I will never watch another game as long as I live. A curse on David Stern, Clay Bennett, Howard Schultz, and the incompetent bozos in Seattle City Government. Down with you all.

What a circus side show this has all become. All at our expense.

It's NHL time, baby!!

What a scam. Seattle only gets the second 30 mil if the legislature approves 150 mil, which they almost certainly won't; especially with Seattle putting such underhanded pressure on the legislature.

For this & other reasons, I am seriously considering voting against ALL incumbents, regardless of political party.

Let's pray for Howard Schultz, it's our only hope.

Losing the Sonics doesn't make me a hockey fan. I don't hate hockey, and I respect the sport and it's fans, but the bottom line to me is I'm a basketball fan. I shall turn my attention to the next closest team, Portland. There's a Seattle connection there anyway with Paul Allen, Nate McMillan, Brandon Roy! And really, at 165 miles away I could still reallistically go to a game! I sure the hell wouldn't go to Oklahomo City, and I am boycotting that team anyway.

Go Blazers

May the OKC FARMERS go on a 1000 games losing streak.
OK, that is not fair to the players. It is not their fault but if I were an NBA players I would avoid OKC unless they like red dirt.

After sleeping on itm my take is from the city's perspective the 30 million dollar "poison pill" is the latest shot in the pissing war between Seattle & the Wa legislature. Hard to tell which of the 2 orgs is more dysfunctional.

The Lakers? No WAY! I'd sooner support the Kings or Warriors. Frankly, I'm a homer and support the home team. It was really hard to root for the Sonics this past season under the ownership of Gay Bennett. Now that they are officially moving to Oklahoma City I will root against them every game of the season. The I-5 rivalry is also officially dead. Portland won, and I'm now a Blazer fan as they are the closest team. To me, it's no different than people in Portland rooting for the Mariners and Seahawks because they don't have pro baseball or football in Portland.
