The Seattle SuperSonics announced the hiring of Matt Pinto on Tuesday. Pinto, shown above courtesy of the Sonics, replaces David Locke as the radio play-by-play announcer for Sonics broadcasts. Locke was let go by Sonics in June. The Sonics will be broadcast on 770 AM KTTH for the second year in a row.
Pinto worked as the radio voice for the Los Angeles Clippers for the last two seasons. Before that, he worked for the Dallas Mavericks from 1997 to 2005. Pinto served as the radio play-by-play voice from 1997 to 2001. And from 2001 to 2005 Pinto worked as the television voice for the Mavericks.
“I’m thrilled for the opportunity,” Pinto said. “I’ve been thoroughly impressed with everyone at the Sonics organization. I’m overjoyed and very excited to contribute to the broadcast in the Seattle marketplace. I’m looking forward to becoming a fixture for Sonics fans and delivering on this great product.”
