Good eats and drinks around Tacoma, Pierce County and South Puget Sound

Scrolling through this month's liquor license applications, an interesting tidbit: the resurfacing of that German deli in Freighthouse Square.

The Freight-Hause German Corner deli appears to be finding its new home on Fern Hill. The TNT Diner crew will be do a dutiful drive-by at lunch to investigate. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, here, a collection of German restaurants to sniff around.

UPDATE: A lunchtime drive-by yielded a pleasant surprise. A sign promising a German restaurant at 8233 S. Park Ave., in the Fern Hill Center (between the post office and a nail shop). We knocked on the door. No answer, sadly. A woman from the nail salon next door, curious at our door banging, said that the owner is there working in the mornings and that they're looking to open next month.

Stay tuned for details.

I know this blog is a group effort now, but it would be nice to get an indication of who is writing each post.

While I admit it is a little unnerving interacting with a nameless entity, I think the idea here is more to get us to talk to each other than to someone on a podium.

Jenyum, I admire you for breaking the silence and acknowledging the elephant in the room, so please don't take my statement as a criticism. I think there are probably a lot of regulars to this blog who are facing the uncertainty of the recent changes here and are therefore keeping mum. I know that I fall into the that category.

Sorry to comment off topic, but this conversation needs to happen sooner or later if things are to continue here in the spirit we have grown accustomed to. Sooner would certainly be better.

At the end it says "Posted by Sue Kidd, Food Editor"

I am almost certain that the signature is a recent edit. I don't recall seeing it on the previous posts.

Yes, that's correct, the post attributions were a recent edit. It's a fair point to know the person who is posting. There will be more than one contributor to this blog for the time being. You'll see different names on here as we post more.

More than one contributor to this blog is very very refreshing.
I hope the TNT takes note that some people actually appreciate more than one perspective.
