In response to: Drop-in Dining: Andre's in Bonney Lake

Sue, I'm not really sure if we both have been to the same restuarant based on your description of your meals. First off the ribs you show in the photos are clearly not a full rack, and if you consider them so then that is one small animal. Secondly, that is NOT a big pile of fries with your order. Yes the atmosphere is more refined than most on the plateau might be used to but the food quality and portions, not to mention the quality of service leaves much to desire.

In response to: First Bite: Original Pancake House in Puyallup

My husband & I had BAD experience! I'm sorry, but I have to tell the truth with my dealings with the Owner/Manager. He has the BIGGEST A--HOLE personality I have come acrossed in a LONG time. I had noticed on my 1st & as well my 2nd(last visit)that my utensills were filthy, coffee cup and my husbands orange juice glass. We brought the situation to his attention and was VERY SHOCKED with his responce. He stated to me "It was just water stains." I looked at him and with my nail scraped batter off my coffee cup and showed him dried egg on my forlk. He DIDN'T apologize just looked at me(PIST)and had someone get us a new setting.

We all know as buisness owners 99.9% of restraunts that go into buisness fail there 1st year & I see this being one of them. Our waitress was out standing! But for some reason this GENTLEMAN seemed to us anyways, as if he had it out for her or maybe that's his personality. It's sad that a well known franchise is being tarnish because of a young owner with a god complex feels better being ugly to his employee's and making sure their unhappy as him!

I have also noticed while blogging, THIS comment I am leaving is nicer then some others that have delt with this young guy. Employee's start looking for work elsewhere!

In response to: Meals by the mile: 10 restaurants along South Tacoma Way

***Open 11 a.m. to midnight daily, the Palace should be on your list for late-night dining. This is traditional Korean barbecue, although not the kind where you cook at your own table.***

I must correct this part of the article. As a HUGE fan of Palace one of the best parts of the restaurant is where you sit down at your table, they light up a grill, hand you some raw meat, tongs, and scissors and tell you to go to town! You can MOST definitely grill your own food here.

You walk in and have 2 options. Go left, cook your own, go right, they cook it for you.

This is one of the best Korean BBQ restaurants I have been to. Make sure you come hungry!!

In response to: Hop Jack's opens in Bonney Lake

I stopped in to the Bonney lake Hop Jacks excited to try a new beer joint. My excitement immediately turned to trepidation and I and felt like I should have called a police officer, they were murdering beer in there!
First the beer selection was safer than wearing a belt and suspenders! It cosited of BMC and BMC cronies such as Widmer Hef & Broken Halo, Red Hook Pale, & Dechutes Porter & Pale. Each well known and proven sellers but BORING and DISAPOINTING! I had read online about Hop Jacks back east and their great selection of beer on tap and in bottles, I was so excited, but this unabashed evil doppelganger was a shocking surprise! Well since I was there and very thirsty from anticipation anyway, I ordered a Red Hook for old time sake. It couldn’t get any worse now could it. What happened next really blew my mind!
The kid behind the bar took a VERY frozen glass and poured beer from a tap that had a 1 inch thick coating of ice all over it! The result was a beer slurpy! You Know… SLUSH! My beer foamed momentarily, gasping it’s last breath then turned to slush 1-2inches deep! DEAD! My beer was now DEAD, DEAD! ANYONE WHO LIKES BEER WOULD TELL YOU FREEZING IS DEATH! I sat there at the bar silent, starring in disbelief. My wife turned pale just watching me.
A moment later the kid behind the bar came back and asked with a smile “How’s that beer?” Without looking up from my beer and as calmly as I could I said “Cold” and the kid said “Yeah, great huh!?” Now my wife was as pale as I must have been awaiting the tirade she knew was about to be unleashed on that poor ignorant kid but I somehow held my tongue, dropped 6 bucks on the bar turned away and left without saying more.
I don’t know who this guy who owns Hop Jacks is but he obviously hates beer and beer drinkers. Why on earth would you name your place ‘HOP’ Jacks and do that to beer? Even marginal beer deserves to be given a chance and server at a proper temperature, NOT FROZEN! I can never return and I may never erase that image from my memory. Why? WHY? WWWHHHHYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!! (The Horror)
In response to: Farmer-author reads from his new book in Tacoma

Masumoto's talk sound charming. I can't make the talk but will seek out the book.

I haven't read Richardson's blog, but I gave up on Daily Kos long ago. There was just too much anger and self-righteousness. I'd be surprised if Richardson's any different, unless I miss my guess.

In response to: Ten-in-One: Freighthouse Square

I love Freighthouse Square! Went to Mediterranean Palace today. Had the Gyro Plate and it was very very good. So fresh. My friend had the Combo Kabob plate and ate every last bite on the plate. Afterwards we walked down to Celebrity Cake Studio and got some tasty treats. Their Eclairs are scrumtastic!

In response to: What happened to Indochine on Mildred?

Yes we've had a chance to try the new royal thai bistro that's on mildred. The food is very similar to the old indochines. They have a new staff of servers that are really great with their service. The interior and theme of the restaurant is still the same and hasn't been changed. I believe royal thai's prices a few dollars less than indochines.

It is funny that Donny (who does not work there anymore) goes online and claims that only fish and chips place is clean knowing the fact that Donny never uses the computer. He is my friend and he said he never wrote that.

I know that Chayan (who owns the fish and chips) knows computers very well back when I used to eat junk food and deep fried food.

To me the above Donny Comment is a shameless plug and a self review by fish and chips people.

I agree with the writers of the news article that the food is great at almost all restaurants. I have been eating lunch at least three times a week and for the past two yeas. I have tried all the restaurants and yet I have not gotten sick.

Just my 2 cents.
In response to: What happened to Indochine on Mildred?

We've enjoyed a couple meals at Indochine on Pearl --- their Panang Curry is one of best renditions around. However, I find their prices a little steep in general --- and I think charging for steamed rice to accompany curry dishes and other entress that you'd typically expect to see served with rice, is a problem. The Panang Curry is $12.95 (if I'm remembering correctly) and at that price-point we feel it should be accompanied by rice.
I believe they only charge $1 or so, but during our last visit, 2 Beers and 2 Entrees with 2 sides of Steamed Rice ---with tax and tip --- was $50!

We too are trying to keep our budget in check these days, and tho' I love the curry, we've been opting to visit other establishments who serve dishes with their expected side dishes without the extra charge.
