ARIZONA: Underdog in Wildcats' quarterback race took a big step in closing that gap during the team's Saturday scrimmage.

ARIZONA STATE: Defense dominates Saturday scrimmage, and Montana product Osweiler is pulled midway through a drive for holding onto the ball too long.

CALIFORNIA: Best sheds lingering toe discomfort, nears full load heading into the Bears' Monday scrimmage.

OREGON: Masoli is the present at quarterback, but the Ducks might have seen the future in this true freshman – Hawkins. He's been impressive in the preseason.

OREGON STATE: 'Dogs' of defense force five interceptions and a fumble against Beavers' No. 2 offense in spirited scrimmage.

STANFORD: Not seeing much on the Cardinal. But if you want Tom Cable news … try the Bay Area newspapers.

UCLA: Bruins suffer from a case of 'freshmen-itis' in Saturday scrimmage, good and bad.

USC: Is it time for the Trojans' faithful to start worrying about the state of the offense? Yes, yes and yes – according to the scrimmage.

WASHINGTON STATE: Alex Brink, are you still alive? Sure Cougars' fans have a tad more appreciation for the Brink tenure now, considering the WSU quarterback situation is in a state of flux with Lobbestael and Lopina, which is previewed today by the Spokesman-Review.
