If you somehow sneaked into Husky Stadium to watch the University of Washington's football practice (and I'd recommend hiding if you did. Security is tight), you saw a lot of different-numbered jerseys being worn.

Like Keith Price donning a No. 9 jersey, not his usual No. 17.

And Luther Leonard was not a slimmed-down Kavario Middleton wearing No. 80. He was playing speedster Terrance Toliver of the Tigers.

Welcome to regular-season football.

Quick notes:

• Coach Steve Sarkisian said tight end Kavario Middleton would return Monday. Middleton himself said the same thing last weekend. And he was – sort of.

Middleton did some light drills, but did not participate in any contact stuff with the first-unit offense. Chris Izbicki and Dorson Boyce did.

• Defensive tackle Cameron Elisara (shoulder) wore the protective red jersey. He did nothing with the No. 1 defense in the team session.

• Midway through practice, a UW athletic trainer were called over to examine safety Victor Aiyewa's right hand. Apparently, it wasn't a serious enough nick for him to stop.

• Erik Folk was 3-of-6 on field goals, missing from as far out as 55 yards.

• Practice went just a shade under two hours. Short and sweet. All for now.
