UDUB is a better team already. I was hoping for an upset. They did show up and that matters a lot. LSU gets the top recruits and it showed in the end.

good story, and better kid. Glad to have him!

they don't get the pub that the negative stories (and there are no shortage of those) about athletes get, but they are sure appreciated.

thanks guys

In response to: The day after, and what we FINALLY know

Very good article - this was well-researched and full of content.

Walker's new nickname is "toast".

I was very surprised, as much as he got jocked on the first touchdown, the coaches didn't go to double coverage or move Walker off Toliver, who loooks like the real deal. So I have to hang much of the second TD on the staff for expecting a different outcome.

No one should feel bad for what happened to that JERKOFF. I would have completely booted that jerk from the team. If you hear someone trash talking to you or about you, be an adult and learn to ignore things. Maybe the Boise player said something to provoke it, therefore he needs to grow up too, but NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, deserves to be resulted in someone dishing out physical violence.. I don't care who you are.

Great read. Thanks, Todd. I appreciate your analysis. BC over at Brand X spends more time trying to figure out ways to insult the previous coaching staff than anything else. Good game by the Dawgs.

The tackle play on the D LIne was a pleasant surprise, and though overmatched
physically, I thought Aldrich showed some promise on the edge. Something to
work with here, especially if Aiyewa comes on so they can bring some LB
pressure. QR had some nice moments.

Overall, LSU showed they have a few NFL athletes who were able to make plays
on defense. I was impressed with their size and speed, but also the Huskies
ability to stay in the game physically against bigger, more developed players.

Great job Todd. Very enjoyable to read this morning. TNT knows Husky fans can't get enough when the team is playing well. Can't wait to see how this season unfolds. Coaching staff grades A+ in my book.

Good stuff, Todd.

Wait until somebody decides to go over the top on us. We're dead in the water. I love how Nick Holt called the game, no real blitzing schemes, just straight zones and man to mans. He changed it up just enough that it disrupted LSU's flow at times. The lack of blitzing, keeps us from getting burned underneath, something we haven't seen for some time. THe rush was a constant problem for them and our LB's are as solid as a rock. Those two things have to continue for us to be successful.

I was proud of these guys. The crowd was good and the team, never gave up. I love it.

Disagree about the secondary - it looked to me like LSU's players at all the skill positions, and especially Tolliver, were freakishly big, fast, and talented, and that's where they put their best athletes. We don't have that luxury in the defensive secondary. It would have been a huge shock if we hadn't gotten burned on any long plays. I thought they showed intelligence and toughness that we haven't seen from a UW secondary in a long time. It's not their fault that they're not Walter Bailey and Dana Hall and Tommie Smith and Shane Pahukoa. More like 4 Nigel Burtons, maybe. But they will hit you in the mouth, no matter how big you are. I like that.

The DBs and everyone else played literally to the last snap, and the offense might even have gotten a little bit better in the fourth. If they continue to play like that, we can recruit the athletes we need to get back to Pasadena. That's why they got a standing O as they went back into the tunnel after losing a game.

Not sure how you can grade the secondary with a C ? What were they serving up in that pressbox anyway. And Todd, please stop whining about your silly deadlines. Write your story and post it. We'll read it. Maybe not in your rag, but we'll read it. TV rules the schedule Dude, I'm sure you know that better then I........As for moving Williams to free safety, he's a heck of a player but he's dumb as a rock. And yes, I know the family......

First UW game I've been able to watch until the last snap in a long, long time. They didn't quit, they had a few chances to quit, but they didn't. Hopefully they can keep this up.

No game thread? Milles, put down your hot dog or I'm going to Condotta's blog! :-)

I don't care what happens in the second half (unless Willingham commandeers the team.) FOOTBALL IS FUN AGAIN!!!!!!
The unraveling of the Zero program couldn't taste more sweet. Phil Knight has bought his way in with such unsavory characters and now reaps what he has sown.

Part of me feels bad for the young man, he is a fine looking athlete.

It didn't look like much of a punch to me, I doubt there is even a bruise on the BS player's jaw.

Contrary to what Kelly thinks, I think that if someone calls you a name, that they might expect to get poked. A threat of retribution seems wanting today in order to enforce good manners and respectful behavior.

The only bright spot here is that the Duck football program has, at least temporarily, displaced Washington from the PAC10 football cellar of shame. Let's hope they stay there.

In response to: Lots of firsts, surprise and unknowns heading into LSU

The O-Line is going to continue to be an issue. There is nothing in football that takes longer than developing a group of five guys that can truly work as a unit on that line. But job 1 is to get the best talent available in the right spots, and I trust Sark has done that. This group has to be an improvement over a group last season that just plain got smoked on almost every down, but that doesn't mean they're the 1976 Oakland Raiders all of a sudden.

I think the best we can hope for this year is something like the 84 Huskies, (not in terms of W-L of course), but where you felt more comfortable when the UW defense was on the field than the offense. If the defense can channel Jason Chorak and Dave Hoffman, get a few turnovers in enemy territory, maybe we eke out enough TDs to win a hadful of games. That would be pretty cool.

LOL @ "sleep specialists" for a TWO-HOUR time change. C'mon, they're college kids. You think they're not used to being up at 1am?

Wow...just wow. So much good and surprising stuff there that I had to read it twice. This o-line shuffle is definately a shocker, but if it is the best five guys then I guess I'll have to trust the coaches. I wonder how long it will take them to get a feel for playing with each other,

Any idea when Sark plans to deploy that depth charge? I think it could come in handy early in the game.

Have they given "current" weights for the linemen? It looks like they have shed quite a few pounds - it would be interesting to see what weight some of the bigger guys like Ossai and Rosborough will be playing at.
