Not much news from UW's morning gathering, other than a chance to meet Michael Houston, the transfer tailback from Texas.

We'll have a more complete story on him in the Wednesday paper, but here are a few highlights:

He says he transfered because the Longhorns were so croweded with tailbacks that they wanted to move him to fullback. Despite his 238 pounds, he clearly views himself as a tailback, and there's every indication Coach Willingham sees him that way too.

As mentioned previously, he will practice with the team this season, but isn't eligible to play until 2007, when he will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

From this first meeting, he seems like a polite, well-spoken guy who fans should like. Especially in light of this quote about going from the national champions to a team that's won three games over two seasons:

"I like to be in this situation," he said. "It’s nothing more than (climbing) from the bottom to the top. Three years from now if we can get a championship and a Rose Bowl victory, it’s way better than when you’re so used to winning and winning. When you win sometimes you get used to it. But coming from this type of atmosphere, guys are hungry, guys are cast as (underdogs). It’s a time to rise. If we can do this for coach Willingham in a new era, it’s going to be better than ever."

Other news of the day: Defensive back Roy Lewis once again was the lone Husky honored with the gold No. 1 jersey.
